One of our tasks was also 3D scanning of the engine rooms of two large tankers. Each of them was over 230 meters long. Our goal was to obtain a point cloud that will visualize the interior of the ship’s engine room in the most accurate way possible. This type of measurement, which is 3D scanning, is perfect for designing new devices, machines or piping in a place where existing installations could affect a possible collision. The fast scanning time is conducive to measurements during the period when the ship is stationed in port only for the time of unloading.
In the case of these tankers scanned, the point cloud obtained from 3D scanning was to be the basis for designing the ballast water treatment system.
