3D scanning and development of 2D documentation of the “Warma” Production Plant

This time, we used laser scanning technology to develop 2D documentation for the production hall. Our client, Warma Manufacuring Plant in Grudziądz, needed a detailed inventory of the entire production area and the premises there. This documentation is needed to propose potential technical solutions in order to obtain the so-called white certificate, or energy efficiency certificates. This mechanism stimulates and enforces pro-efficiency behavior. Therefore, in the documentation we made, it was necessary to include additional information concerning, among other things, the location of the lighting elements of the hall.

The entire façade, including the roof and skylights, and the internal space of the hall with rooms were subject to scanning. We used the FARO Focus X130 scanner for this. All scans were made in shades of intensity of reflection of the laser beam. Ultimately, the entire project was based on 435 measuring stations. The resulting cloud of points allowed to precisely determine the geometry of the object. On its basis, we made elevation, roof and interior projections of the hall and appropriate cross-sections.

Benefits:

  • minimization of costs through the optimal distribution of light sources throughout the facility thanks to the knowledge of the object’s geometry;
  • obtaining current architectural documentation;
  • saving time, acquiring a huge amount of spatial data in a short time;
  • the opportunity to analyze many solutions.
