Once again, we used 3D scanning in the shipbuilding industry. Fuel tanks in the hull of the ship were scanned. Difficult working conditions (lack of lighting, unstable, slippery surfaces) limited the choice of equipment and measurement methods. Thanks to the use of a specialized scanner and tripod, the limitations have been reduced.
Detailed 3D models of each tank were made on the basis of the point cloud. Thanks to the models, we calculated the volume of tanks. In the generated report, additional information about volume value was added along with a height increase of 10 cm.
