3D scanning technology works not only for educational or promotional purposes, but also when trying to reconstruct historic objects or their components. Our technology has been used to recreate the historic altar. The altar comes from a nineteenth-century neo-Gothic church, located in the center of Grudziądz. For construction reasons, this church was not used for religious purposes, and therefore was intended for demolition. We have attempted to reconstruct broken elements of the altar – the cross and the figure of Christ. 3D scanning allows such operations without additional interference in the measured object.
